Evening Board Games

Number of people : 1-2

Budget: 0 (bring your own games and/or borrow from friends!)

Each evening after candlelight chapel is board game night in the Oceanic lobby. Organizers for this activity should come to Star with a variety of multi-player strategy games, and the front desk can supply some well-known classics. Be ready to start at 10:30PM nightly. Leaders should help organize participants into groups, set up games, and teach rules to new players. Coordinators should stay in the lobby until all games have been finished in order to clean up and return any borrowed games to the front desk.

Most of the participation is driven by the excitement of not-so-common games. The games will have to be hand carried on the boat (as a specialty luggage item, like a guitar, etc) so it would be a good idea to put them all in one container/box for transport.

If you want to provide a charm for those who play, you will need to provide them, and establish a rule for what needs to be done to get a charm (ie play one game, play 2 games, etc etc). You can make exceptions on the time of day for younger people who wanted to play games in the lobby and be rewarded. Watchers are allowed and encouraged!

Here are games that have been used over the past couple years:

  • Settlers of Catan

  • Stone Age

  • Coloretto

  • Zooloretto

  • San Juan

  • Bohnanza

  • Pandemic

  • 7 Wonders

  • Bang!

  • Citadels

  • Carcassonne

  • Blokus

  • Ticket to Ride
